I can’t edit the tag

    1. Converted categories to tags using Tools> Import> Convert Categories and Tags.
    2. The converted category corresponds to the child category ‘faq / aaa’, and the parent category ‘faq’ is not converted into a tag.
    3. When I try to rename a tag from Posts> Tags> Quick Edit, I get the error message “No parent term” and can’t save.
    4. In the same way, when I try to change the tag name or description from Post> Tag> Edit, the error message “The tag was not updated.” Is displayed and the tag cannot be saved.
    5. It is possible to add / delete new tags and edit tags that have not been converted into tags without any problems.

    If you read from a few error messages, it seems that such an error occurs because only the child categories are converted to tags, but I can’t think of a solution. What should I do?

    One issue is categories are hierarchical and tags are not. If we used child category names as tags, it would be possible to have multiple tags with the same name, causing all sorts of problems.

    The other issue is the plugin for conversion hasn’t been maintained in a long time. TBH, it doesn’t belong in the tools menu anymore.

    I’m not sure how the plugin manages conversions, so it’s difficult to know the exact cause of the problem or how to fix it. But I want to help you in any way I can. Do you have a recent DB backup from prior to the conversion? The best thing to do is restore from backup and concoct a different plan that does not use the plugin.

    How many problem terms are involved? It’s feasible to manually patch up the DB, but it would be a very tedious, error prone process. It could worsen things instead of improve if not done correctly.

    DBを編集することなく編集することができました。方法は問題のタグをカテゴリにもう一度変換し、すぐにまたタグに変換することです。
