I can't edit my site becasue the menu bar at the top isn't there.

    I recently set up a wordpress site and successfully edited during the first few months, but occasionally when I open my site there is no menu at the top to allow me to edit it. It appears as if I am not the administrator of the site so I can’t get into it to add new posts etc. What am I doing wrong?
