I am a real beginner trying to run WP in my purchased domain (www.inbound.cl)and with a reliable hosting provider (www.planetahosting.cl) which offers Apache, MySQL and PHP.

The problem is that I cannot run the https://inbound.cl/wp-admin/install.php. I receive a page with a HTTP 404 (page not found).

I modified the wp-config file with the DB information taken by C-panel (SQL section), where I created my access:

    DB name = inboundc_wp
    DB user = inboundc_pablo

I have copied all the wp files using NICO FTP and I have checked the integrity of all the files comparing to the ones in my local notebook.

I have seen some simmilar cases in this forum and I have tried some tips, but nothing.

I will appreciate any help. Thanks.

  • What folder did you upload the files to? I would think that it’s not the root folder as nothing is showing up there, but I can’t troubleshoot as I can’t get a directory listing.

One thing that you should do is remove the default index.htm file that’s there now. Even if WordPress was installed in that folder the main homepage won’t show thanks to that file over-riding the index.php file used by WordPress.

Hey, thanks for that tip. I found that index.htm that loaded a page saying “site in construction”. When I deleted that file, the installation run perfectly!

    Thanks again.
