I cannot get the anchor mobile menu to function properly on the Sydney Theme

My site is a two page site but only for language reasons, in reality it is a one pager with an anchor menu and a on scroll to top header. On desktop the menu works fine, on mobile the problem is the behavior of the menu window, when the button for the menu is clicked, the menu appears from the side, once you click a menu item it takes you to it, but the mobile menu won’t disappear, and if you try touching the side of the page where the content is, the mobile menu goes away but leaves you at the top of the page. I’ve updated Sydney, I’ve cleared cache, I looked into the options of the menu in customize but nothing addresses this behavior… I have some custom CSS on my site, but I recall this being an issue before the custom CSS was added. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thank you.
