• Sorry for the stupid question. My site is still on my localhost and almost ready for uploading. But I accidentally changed the site’s address in the dashboard. And now I cannot enter the dashboard. WordPress offers me to enter password under Admin. I think it was Admin, as well. But WordPress claims the password is not correct. What can I do? I wouldn’t like to reinstall WordPress and loose all my data. On the face of it, the folder with all the files and pages still exists, of course. I can copy it to some other place. Is there any file where I can manually correct my site address in the dashboard? Thanks a lot

And, of course, I cannot edit the pages. I have no such option. Any ideas? Thanks

OK. Let’s do a new site from zero. What should I do? How can I create a database?

A lot of options. Any recommendations for localhosts, please? Thanks

I guess I don’t need to perform “Easy 5 Minute WordPress Installation on Windows” I already have WordPress. Using phpMyAdmin?

But I cannot see Create Database option. This is probably forbidden

I’m not quite sure I understand your question. Installing on “localhost” implies that you have a web server environment up and running and properly configured on your home or personal computer.

Installation of wordpress is pretty straight forward once that’s operating correctly. There aren’t many options.

    1)create database
2)edit wp-config.php with database and salt keys
    3)upload/copy files to web space
    4)run the install at //localhost/wp-admin/install.php

That’s all you need to do to get a basic OOTB WordPress site running.
If you’re going to do this at home on your own computer, the burden of learning how to install, configure and manage the applications required to run WordPress is usually something that comes with a lot of reading and perseverance.

I already did this once:-) But if you have an idea how to fix my already existing database and site (databese I cannot see in phpMyAdmin – that’s a problem), you are welcome ??

I’m afraid I do not. The number of different possible development server configurations is mind boggling. I would only be guessing by trying to give you specific instructions about your own environment.

In general, it sounds to me as if you need to do a little reading on either using the command console for MySQL administration, or find some documentation on properly installing and configuring phpMyAdmin for your particular environment. The database is either there, or it isn’t. If you can see WordPress, it’s there. If it isn’t, you will get error message in your browser. I think your issue right now is database administration, not WordPress. This is a pretty big clue right here:

    phpMyAdmin – Error
Cannot start session without errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly.

I launched BitNami WordPress Stack. I can see the Sample Page.
But I cannot reach the dashboard (!)
    I get 404 error:
The requested URL /wp-admin/ was not found on this server.
    What should I do?

Change the name 192.168.1.12 on localhost or something?

    I cannot guide you beyond this point with your installation;

The Bitnami installer for windows (I’m assuming you use windows) is simple, straight forward, and works right out of the box. You can access your wordpress with /localhost/wordpress/ in your browser.

You can access phpMyAdmin by visiting /127.0.0.1/phpmyadmin/
It works with the name and password you provided at installation of Bitnami, and the default database is named bitnami_wordpress.

The program interface is clean, intuitive and pretty easy to understand. The installed services are very easily managed.

But still “The requested URL /wp-admin/ was not found on this server”
I probably should rename something? Edit wp-config.php?
Probably during the installation instead of 192.168.1.12 use localhost or 127.0.0.1? Or just run as it is with this User’s blog etc

OK. Tomorrow. I’m afraid I’ll start another topic with the question: Using very simple Bitnami installer for Windows I can get the Sample Page, but without editing options. Due to the fact that the requested URL /wp-admin/ was not found on this server ??

BTW localhost/wordpress – not found as well
