    Hello!

That topic explains the order in which descriptions for the homepage are generated. But the issue you’re encountering doesn’t appear to be related.

If you click on “SEO” via the admin menu, you will find meta boxes. One of those meta boxes is called “Homepage Settings.” Are you editing the homepage meta title and description in there? In the same meta box, under the “Addition” tab, you should also be able to change the tagline.

If those fields do not respond to typing inputs, you may be encountering a browser bug or a plugin conflict. Please see if using another browser helps. Let me know if that helped and whether you’re still finding issues. Thanks!

    Thank you for your reply!

Changing browser from Firefox to Chromium (both on Ubuntu linux) doesn’t change anything.

Yes, I am on WP dashboard -> SEO settings -> Homepage Settings box -> Meta Title (and Meta Description).

To be exact: I cannot move the cursor, I cannot use delete-keyboard-keys, and if I start typing, a large part of the content of the field disappears. I find that very odd and confusing. I have never experienced a similar input-field.

I use the Astra Pro theme. I have about 20 plugins. The most intrusive ones are probably WPML and Wordfence.

I look forward to hear from you. ??

    Hi again!

Thank you for sharing the details. I think this is a scripting conflict, where a plugin accidentally attaches an observer to all input fields and then misbehaves. Our title input is complex, for it calculates the position of the “floating additions,” pixels in Google, and characters from multiple sources at once. The last two complexities also apply to description input fields.

Since Astra, WPML, and Wordfence are widely used, and we aren’t being bombarded with reports, I believe the problem lies elsewhere. Could you please help me find the cause?

To help me get started, I need a list of the active plugins on your site.

You can quickly copy that from “Tools > Site Health > Info” under the “Active plugins” accordion tab.

If you’d rather keep that information confidential, please send it to me here: https://tsf.fyi/contact.

    Thank you!
