[NSFW] I cannot add new categories & set featured image

  • I was setting up the website when I realized I could not add new categories. I go to “/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=category” and I click on “Add new category” button but it does nothing.

    After trying the following:

    – change theme to see if the problem is the theme.
    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem.
    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP.
    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    I do not know what else I can try to solve the problem.

    Furthermore, I realized that the same thing happened to the other subdomains where I installed wordpress.

    In the main domain WordPress is version 3.9, in the subdomains the version is 3.8.3.

    Please helpme. If I don’t find a solution I have to change to an other CMS, and this is the worst-case scenario.

    It gives me the same problem with all the 3 themes I have tried:

    – Twenty Eleven
    – Twenty Fourteen
    – deTube

    Esmi: there is nothing on my site, only the default “Welcome to WordPress” post. I deleted all the content and re-installed wordpress. But still I cannot add new categories and set featured image.

    Can we see the site using the default Twenty Fourteen theme with all plugins deactivated?

    I don’t understand Esmi. When I check from the dashboard it shows me only hello world. I use Mozzilla firex as browser.

    Now that you say that is populated I have tried using Chrome as browser and yes, I can see some content. Then I try with my ipad and I can see some content.

    What is the problem with my dashboard or with my browser?

    Check your domain name.

    I did this test:
    From my brother’s pc using Safari I went to my site. In the site I saw that there are some videos. Then I logged in with my credentials as administrator and from the dashboard I clicked to “visit site”. When the site opened instead of showing again the videos there was the “hello world” message…

    Any suggestion guys?

    Please, any suggestion would be appreciated. I cannot do anything to my site, I have tried all but the situation does not change.

    I don’t understand why you can see content on the site even if I reinstalled all the site with softaculous. I can only see the “Hello World” post, but I cannot add new categories and set featured image

    Hi, try this:

    Step 1: Backup your site
    Step 2: Log into your Admin account
    Step 3: Click Dashboard in the lefthand sidebar
    Step 4: Go to Update
    Step 5: Click Re-Install Now to reinstall WordPress

    This is kind of a shot in the dark, but I recently had a functionality issue with a fresh install of WordPress that couldn’t be resolved through re-installing via FTP. Using the Dashboard’s Re-Install feature, I managed to fix the issue.
