I can not upload from my computer anymore

I to blogs want is now 2.6 is 2.5 I was trying to copy the widgets from Mike 2.5 blog and paste that into my 2.6 block I open my admin on my back office alike to widgets to edit page opened could not copy. With WordPress now you cannot upload from your computer like you did with 2.3 I think it was. And I’m having trouble uploading to my seat panel with host gator. So how do I put my picture on the new blog that on my first blog if I can’t upload it from my computer or copy it from the other blog. And the question is why can I copy what’s in my widgets to save to no pet or something before I change it or delete the old photo.
