I bought a nice theme, and now what?

  • I bought a very good looking theme with all the things I need, thinking that I would have simply to change text, images, menu and do some little coding.

    OK, I’m new to WP world but I’m experienced with HTML and web design.

    So now what?
    For instance, my theme has a nice About us page, with a right side bar, divider, team members thumbnail, Read more links, etc.

    How can I apply these feature to my page?

    Is there any general documentation or tutorial available about this topic?

    I know that I have to ask the author…. but so far I didn’t get much help from him….

  • Welcome to the WP world! First off have you installed the theme yet? (I know it seems simple but you’d be surprised :D) If so have you tried making pages and see what the styling is that is preprogrammed? Most WP themes if done right are ready right out of the box!

    And if you could send us a link of your site we would be able to help a little easier! ??

    Well first up, we don’t know the theme. Every theme is custom coded by the author. as such…. there is no default generic rules we can give.

    I can make a guess to get you started.

    If there is an about us page layout, I would venture to guess that when you start to make your About Us page, from the pages->add new menu, in the page editor, over on the right you will find a page template dropdown, from which you should be able to select that template/layout

    That’s the common way, but its a guess as I don’t know what theme you have
