I am not able to verify google app

    Hi,

    I’ve followed all the steps indicated by the plugin interface to create my Google app, but in the verification step I got this problem:

    As expected, when I click in Verify Settings it rises a new window requiring select the Google account to login:

    But after selecting the Google account, I am redirected to the default WordPress login instead of completing the verification as I’ve seen in all tutorials in the internet:

    How can I fix that?

    Hi @rfael!

    This is often caused by either object cache or varnish. Do you have either of them? You can find the object cache in the Drop Ins / Must Use plugins, and Varnish typically on the backend of your host ( cPanel / WHM ).

    Additionally, please enable debug mode on the Global Settings:

    Then try the verification again, and see if the popup shows any errors.

    I had this issue as well and couldn’t figure out what it was.

    Everything was working fine and then all of th sudden the google action wouldnt log me in, it would just spit me back to the login screen. I deactivated and started over but ran into an issue when trying to re-activate google in the nextend settings.

    I installed LiteSpeed Cache and Object Cache was on. After clicking my gmail account to login the popup window would load a mobile view of my site and not authorize the vrifcation.

    Turning off object cache fixed it.

    I am glad you managed to fix the problem.

    Just some extra information for Object caches:
    Generally speaking, Nextend Social Login is compatible with object caches, however if the object cache is not configure properly then the social login won’t work, as the object cache will make the site transient data unavailable, hence we won’t be able to retrieve the data that we need during the authentication.

    According to our experiences, the most common problems are either that:

    • the object cache extension ( .dll file ) is not installed on the server
    • the object cache server is not installed / is not stated

    Without these the object cache won’t work, and actually if you have the object cache enabled without the proper configuration, it won’t improve your site speed, what’s more it will make your site even slower, as we saw some websites with terrible loading speed and once the misconfigured object cache was disabled, the start started functioning normally.

    So before you enable object cache on your site, you need to make sure you have all the prerequisites, otherwise it will just cause problems.
