I am having trouble with adding ads to text widgets.

  • I am having an issue with adding an Amazon banner ad code to the text widget in the back end of WordPress. Trying to add a Google Adsense banner ad does the same thing. It acts like it’s trying to save it but never quite gets it done. The screenshot I link to should give you an idea of what this looks like. Things I’ve tried:

    1. The latest versions of Chrome and Opera
    2. CTRL + F5 (which force refreshes it)
    3. Two different computers, one of which uses Windows and the other uses Ubuntu

    If it helps, I am using WordPress 5.3.2 and the latest version of the Twenty Twenty theme (which I updated just now thinking that might help but it hasn’t). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Hi @commandrix , you have very little information for me to help. But I believe that the plugin author should have an example of how to insert an image to banner. Also try to first click on the code option and then insert the code that is in your screenshots.

    You might try the custom html widget but I’d probably switch to this plugin instead which will let you insert any javascript into the header or footer as directed by the code provider and you can also use it to place the rest of the code to where you wish it to appear in the body if you can’t stuff that code into the page itself.

    @jnashhawkins I just tried that plugin and, according to the error I just got, it’s definitely a problem on the host end. My best guess here is that the permissions didn’t like Javascript.

    I just looked at the main page for that site referenced in the screenshot and I don’t see where you inserted the code anywhere.

    But I see Javascript for the twitter widget and that is running.
