• Categories, Posts, Pages..

I currently have a menu showing with pages as links, they also have child pages. For example:

    Cars
    -Red Cars
    -Blue Cars
    Bikes
    -Red Bikes
    -Blue Bikes

I would like to be able to click on “Cars” and see the cars page then below it see posts for Red Cars, Blue Cars.

Then when clicking on home it displays all posts for Bikes and Cars, Red Cars, Blue Cars, Red Bikes, Blue Bikes.

My theme has the option to show the menu links as posts, categories or pages.

I’m confused about how to go about this. Advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I was thinking about making everything posts. Then sticky the post I want to stay up top… but that didnt work, it just made it sticky to home.

    One possibility:

    • Make the ‘Cars’, ‘Bikes’, etc, as pages (the ones you want to see in the menu).
    • Assign the category ‘cars’ to posts for Cars, and ‘bikes’ to posts for Bikes.
    • Install the Page Links To plugin.
    • Follow the steps in this thread to configure each page to link to its category.

Hey I tried this. Thanks, though its not what I want. That just makes the menu link point to the category of posts. So theres no way to see the page. I would like to see the page then the posts/categories below it. If there was a way I could sticky one post to a category then that would work. I wouldn’t need any pages.

    ok I used
    astickypostorderer
    for a work around…
doesnt do exactly what I want.. because the top is no longer a page, its a post.. which means it has a post date and a post name. also I suppose there is no way around having a column on each side… for the category view..
argh my head is going to explode..

There probably is a way to do what you want, but it would mean tinkering with the theme quite a bit. Are you using a free theme? If so, post a link to your site and I will take a look.
