• Resolved endominance2024

I am a novice WP user. I tried to change my account to multisite account by adding a line in the wp-config.php file. In the process, I renamed the existing wp-config.php to wp-config COPY.php and, when I tried to re-change the name back to wp-config.php, it failed.

Now I cannot access my dashboard and it seems WordPress doesn’t even recognize my login credentials as if I am a new user.

I don’t have access to FTP or SFTP (I never used those before).I downloaded FileZilla and tried to connect to my website with existing credentials but it keep saying “530 login authentication failed.”

Please help me restore my website!

    Hey,

Sorry for the trouble. Please log in to your hosting server and navigate to the File Manager section to revert the name of the wp-config COPY.php file back to wp-config.php. This should resolve the issues with your website and WordPress.

Give it a try, and let me know how that goes! ??

Strange as it sounds, I don’t know the hosting server info….

I have the copy of original wp-config.php in txt file. I thought Bluehost hosts my website, but when I login to Bluehost, I was able to access the cPanel. But I am not sure I was in the right File Manager Directory, because I couldn’t find wp-config.php file or wp-config COPY.php

If you visit my website now, https://www.endominance.com, now I see this message “The file?wp-config.php?already exists. If you need to reset any of the configuration items in this file, please delete it first. You may try?installing now.”

So I clicked Installing now and it says that it is already installed and asks to login. Then, it circles back to “The file wp-config.php already exists..”

I found the directory where wp-config.php was located!

    Thanks!
