Hyperlinking

Alright, well i know that you can hyperlink normal posts. But in the settings you have the option to set a post or signiture that appears under each and everypost. For somereason the hyperlink button is diseabled here and when i try to enter to enter the html code i get a bunch of funky symbols. Is there any way for me to to hyper link these messages?
