  • i can’t speak for that plugin because I haven’t used it, but I realyl doubt that it would do what you want it to.

    Taken directly from the plugins FAQ page…

    HyperDB does not provide replication services.

    Even if you could replicate the DB with that, it won’t work. WordPress stores the sites URL’s as well as any hard-coded links, in the DB, so if you replicate that between two sites, both sites will have exactly the same data includign the base URL and the on-page links. That’s definately bad for what you want to do.

    You can do that, but you would need to do that after every replication. Unless you can automate it, and have it happen exactly after the replication, it won’t work, and you’ll be left with both sites pointing to the same site for at least a short time.

    Testing wordpress 3.8.1 with HA Proxy. 3 backend web apache servers. Unfortunately, HyperDB latest (2014-03-04) has problems on WP 3.8.1. I have MySQL master and 2 slaves (connections also proxied via same HA Proxy).

    On HA Proxy:
    3306 -> read-only -> 2 slaves answering
    6306 -> write-only -> 1 master answering
    80 -> 3 apache web servers answering

    I use an alternate DNS (bind on CentOS) for the above test environment for name resolution so URLs are not a problem, identical to production web site. Client uses same DNS.

    Any suggestions on how to get HyperDB to work on 3.8.1?
