hwo to put an empty (zero length) verification file in the root of my site?

    I’ve not come across them before but it sounds like you need to open up your text editor and save an empty text file using (I assume) the file name that they gave to you. Then upload this new file to your WordPress folder (the one that also contains the wp-config.php file) using FTP (or whatever file management application your host provides).
