    Hi,

The Hustle plugin is causing issues on my website – some malware popup keeps appearing on the top right corner. Once I deactivate and delete the Hustle plug in, the malware goes away. However, the plugin manages to find its way back to my wordpress without me reinstalling it. I haven’t restored the website from backup at all, so I’m crossing off the possibility of a restoration to back when the plugin was active.

Anyone else having this issue or know how to make this meduza go away?

    Thanks!

    Hi @pssupport

    I hope you’re well today!

If a plugin is deleted it should not get back on its own. Hustle is no different and we don’t have any features there that would make it re-install itself. We also carefully check plugins against malware before publishing them here.

What you described seems to be more of a sign of ongoing infection rather than the issue with the plugin itself.

You mentioned that with Hustle on site there was some malware popup but Hustle does not add any popups out of the box unless you create them. I mean, right after installation, no popup would show up anywhere on site until popup is created.

I visited the site and currently I don’t see any popup showing up so I’m not even sure if it was a core Hustle popup or it was a side-effect of some infection or even if the plugin that’s getting back is real Hustle or it’s a malware that tries to “mask itself” pretending to be Hustle. I’d suspect the latter as a very probable case. It’s quite a common scenario that the malware pretends other plugin.

Sucuri SiteCheck online scan doesn’t confirm any ongoing infection at the moment but it does confirm some issues that do suggest that infection may be happening.

At this point, taking into account the behavior that you described, I’d strongly recommend scanning the site against infections. Popular free plugins such as our own Defender or the Wordfence should help.

    Kind regards,
    Adam

    Hi,

Thank you for your reply. It appears some malware found its way through the Hustle plugin to cause that popup. Once I remove the Hustle plugin, that popup disappears. I assume that malware manages to reinstall the Hustle plugin and therefore that popup. We’re currently working on upgrading our security measures as nothing comes up during Defender pro or the hosting scans in terms of malware or viruses.

    Thanks!

    Hi @pssupport

    Thank you for response!

Please update us her once you’re done with all the security scans, cleanups and config so we’d know if that solved the issue and stopped it from re-occurring.

    Best regards,
    Adam
