• I live in a very small town of 400 people, in BFE South Dakota. For such a small town, a lot of gossip happens and a lot of trouble is brewing within the city council. I know a lot of the gossip and am sort of in the mix with the city council as my in-laws and I ran the bar (yes, as in only bar) in town for almost two years up until recently

Anyway.. this is a site I am starting to write about some on the Hurley news- we have a paper that comes out weekly, only 2 pages and costs $0.50, but the person who writes the article called “Hurley News” does not actually write about anything going on in town. She writes “witty” stories about her family instead :roll eyes:

Anyway, here is my slightly altered Kubrick theme

    https://www.esimonsen.com

The colors dont seem too bright on my monitor, however, I love color. I would really like to know if people here think it is too much (Its the towns colors, but will change if too much)

    Thanks for any feedback

  • My opinion (bearing in mind that this is just an opinion): yes, the background is quite a bit too much. You could maintain the color scheme while toning down the background, and using the orange color to highlight things you want to highlight. As it is, the background screams for attention to the detriment of the content (your posts).

On the other hand, design has quite a bit to do with the audience for the site. Do they think it’s too much or not?

As a matter of fact, the background is very cool in line with the header… you just might adjust opacity…
On the other hand, if more gossip is put in the blog, you’ll only have the sides with the background.
    I like it, but hey, that’s just personal… =)

Thank you both for your honest opinions. When I get more time I will make another theme that viewers can choose from if background is too much for them. I will also lower the opacity a bit on the current background.

    Thanks again ??
