• Using Yoast SEO on a WP Engine site, and get this warning:

“HUGE SEO Issue: You’re blocking access to robots. You must go to your Reading Settings and uncheck the box for Search Engine Visibility.”

I then go to my reading settings, and try to uncheck the box for Search Engine Visibility that is labeled “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” and click Save Changes and every time the unchecked box will not save.

I experienced a similar issue with the “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” settings not saving.

I am experiencing the same issue.

Any word on this? I’m having the same issue. WordPress 4.4.2. I uncheck Search Engine Visibility (to my site will get crawled) and hit “save” but it’s still check when I refresh the page.

This issue has been resolved for us. The site in question had just been migrated and was not put in the root (it was in a sub-directory of the root (as in root_dir/wp/all_files&directories instead of root_dir/all_files&directories. Almost everything worked fine with this configuration except the search engine visibility option (although I’m sure other things weren’t working properly as well). Once the files were moved to where they should have been this setting worked as expected.

    I hope this helps others.
