Huge problem with latest version
-
We didn’t like the recent backend changes (image upload, etc.) that were made to Nextgen but accepted them because it’s the best WordPress gallery plugin and kept rolling.
We made the update this past weekend to the most recent version and our server immediately started crashing. MySQL was taking 118% of server resources compared to normally 14%. We went through the dreaded task of de-activating and re-activating WordPress plugins to find the problem and indeed it was the latest Nextgen, causing server load to jump from 1.28 to 28.12.
Some of our colleagues recommended rolling back to 1.9 and that’s what we did. The interface is much better and load is normal. With that said, we have been using Nextgen for years now and thank you for the plugin!
