Huge number of hits at the same time from various US locations

  • I am using Visitor Maps plugin to see how many people are visiting my site and recently (last few weeks) Ive noticed that I suddenly get a huge number of hits at the same time from various IPs and locations within the US.

    The last time it happened was at 08-06-2013 09:32 am UTC and I count 90 hits all from different IPs and all different locations within the US at exactly the same time. Also, they are hitting they seem to be hitting all the different categories within my blog.

    It’s obviously some sort of bot that is doing this. Is this just google or some other search engine trawling my site (in which case I guess it’s no problem)? Or something else? Im pretty sure this didnt start happening until recently. Anyone have any ideas?
