• Hi,

After upgrading from 4.9 to 4.9.1 yesterday, and also updating all plugins, I got a huge increase in memory in my cPanel. Whilst idle, it is constantly around 300 MB (RAM Memory) after disabling all plugins. With my plugins enabled, it is overloading the 512 MB I have. I run a very small site on a Godaddy Shared hosting account and I did not have any memory issues whatsoever before upgrading to 4.9.1. In idle, with all plugins enabled it was around 100 MB RAM Memory usage at highest.

    What could be wrong?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Slowness/high CPU usage could be due to (but not limited to):
    – A poor or memory intensive theme. Switch to the WordPress default theme and test loading time and see if you see a difference. If you do, may be your theme can be re-written to be more efficient.
    – Poor or memory intensive plugins. One by one disable plugins and test loading time and see if you see a difference. If you do, may be that plugin can be re-written to be more efficient.
    – your server is slow (e.g., “process hang”, overload, you get a lot of visitors, other problems, etc.); generally, every inexpensive host out there is slow.
    – I don’t know if you use CloudFlare or not but if you do I would suggest deactivating it and seeing if it helps. Also sometimes a good purge of the cache on CloudFlare can help.
    – Lots of images can cause slowness. Also images loaded without compression.
    – Lots of external content (facebook/ gravatar/ google adds, etc.) and redirects in general tends to slow sites down.

The pingdom, etc., report tells you exactly what is wrong with your site: https://tools.pingdom.com/

Use plugins to optmize/speed up sites: Autoptimize, WP Super Cache , etc

Use Jetpack’s Photon option to speed up image delivery

    Hi,

    Thank you for your message

    – theme switch makes no difference
    – as I said in my earlier messages, it happens after DISABLING all plugins
    – I didn’t have the problem until after when I upgraded to 4.9.1
    – I don’t use cloudflare
    – Images are compressed and I had plugins to compress them even more + caching
    – I don’t have lots of external content
    – I had all those plugins, but they are currently ALL disabled due to the aforementioned problem

I run a very small site on a Godaddy Shared hosting account
