No longer a hassle getting it to work
-
UPDATE (Mar 22 2017): Not experiencing the issue anymore, changed rating from 3 to 5.
I’m using WordPress 4.7.2 (multisite) and it ended up taking longer to figure out a workaround to the “You must upload a .wie file generated by this plugin.” error message than it would have for me to import my widgets manually.
I tried adding “wie” to the acceptable file format list in the multisite super-admin panel options, then tried installing the “Disable Real MIME Types” plugin as suggested in one of the threads, and was eventually able to get it working by adding “wie” as a file type in the “Media Library Assistant” plugin and manually setting the MIME type to “application/json”.
Giving it 3 stars since it did import the widgets, but that’s being generous considering this has apparently been an ongoing issue for 9+ months now and could (should) have been as simple as pasting the data into a textarea field or using a known file extension.
Anyways, hopefully this info can help someone else struggling with the same problem.
Cheers,
James
