I have been receiving site lock out notifications from users that don’t exist or have already been deleted from the database. I have already tried putting them on the ban list and the log file is empty even though I am receiving emails about it almost everyday. Just not sure how to proceed from here.

  • Hello there,

What you’re reporting isn’t uncommon for WordPress websites since it is the primary CMS on the internet.

iThemes Security does have a way to hide extra user archives but will only solve part of the problem. As long as you have iThemes Security running it will continue to block these fake login attempts.

    Disable Extra User Archives

Disables a user’s author page if their post count is 0. This makes it harder for bots to determine usernames by disabling post archives for users that don’t post to your site.

You can use another plugin to help stop user enumeration or ask your host for help.
