I updated the the Live Chat plugin to the latest version today, but it caused an error. There was a large white box across the bottom of the WordPress dashboard which looked like it was trying to load live chat. I should have done a screengrab –?I can’t remember exactly what was inside the box (I think it said “Loading Live Chat”). The box never loaded anything, but it was there on every page of the dashboard.

Anyway, following that I reverted back to version 8.0.32 (using UpdraftPlus).

After reverting I notice that when I clicked the small Live Chat icon it changed to a cross (close icon), but nothing else happens – nothing is displayed.

I looked for errors in the Javascript console and saw 18 https mixed content warnings, so I’m presuming these issues might be related.

Here’s an example of one of the warnings:

Mixed Content: The page at 'https://www.my-website.co.uk/' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure XMLHttpRequest endpoint 'https://www.evennode.com/'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.

What can I do to ensure Live Chat uses https to load these resources?

    Any help much appreciated.

  • Update to the latest version and clear both your site and browser cache. I believe the latest version is not using evennode endpoints anymore so it must have been cached files which you were seeing trying to load those resources.

    Thanks @sgurygf

I did as you suggested – updated to latest version of the plugin and cleared site and browser cache.

That resolved the issues I was having.
