    Hi Martin,

    The URL you provided would be for an install in the root of the MAMP document root, that is, Applications/MAMP/htdocs.

    Generally, one uses a sub folder within the above location and when you extract the WP download, the actual files required are already in a folder named wordpress.

    So, if you used the default MAMP settings (ports and document root) and you extracted the WP download to Applications/MAMP/htdocs, and you do have a folder in there named wordpress, then to start the install, enter:

    https://localhost:8888/wordpress

    Note too that you need to use phpMyAdmin from the MAMP Start page, to create a new, empty database before you begin the install.
