• I have a general question. Someone met in wordpress with such adress with an email at the end

    Example https://some.url.to_post.com/[email protected]

What can they be used for? I got this question from an SEO person about a website. If anyone has come across this please let me know.

    Thanks

  • That looks more like a typo to me. If there is a text on the domain https://some.url.to_post.com that contains an e-mail link but is not preceded by the mailto:, then the browser may convert it into exactly such a URL.

Or the editor did not know when entering the e-mail address that he must prefix mailto: but simply prefixed the domain of the web page.

Otherwise, a website could also process such a call as a normal URL. The @ is quite possible at this point. But it would open a page, not an e-mail program or so.

From a purely technical point of view, there is no reason for such a URL structure.
