Hello! I recently changed a client site from domain.com and www.domain.com to being located at subdomain.newdomain.com. Within Google Analytics, I updated the URL for the account. Within Google Search Console, I added a new property.

Then, within Google Site Kit, I reset the plugin (Site Kit > Settings > Admin Settings > Reset Site Kit). That allowed me to reconnect to Google Analytics. However, I am still running into an issue with Google Search Console, which you can see in the screenshot below.

Within Google Analytics and Google Search Console (in the new property), I can see that the site is properly tracking activity. Yet, how can I get this data to display correctly in Google Site Kit?

Thanks in advance for whatever insight and guidance you can provide.

Thanks for reaching out. That does sound unusual, I can’t be sure why your site URL is being tagged as an Analytics property. So we can investigate this further can you share your Site Health information using this form?

Thanks for sharing. As I’m unsure of the cause from looking at your Site Health information can you share if you see any variations of your site URL available when checking your connected Search Console property (Site Kit > Settings > Search Console > Edit)?

If so please select your current domain and inform me if the same issue persists. We can then perform some additional troubleshooting steps if needed. From checking your site I’m redirected to a /eu path and I noticed also you have the Site Kit staging site plugin active. We can perform some checks on both of these once you check the connected property first.

The redirect is intentional provided that you are, in fact, in the EU as you surf.

Good spot on the Site Kit staging site plugin being active. From your note, I deactivated and then deleted the plugin. That resolved the conflict. Google Search Console is now properly connected, and pulling in and displaying data within the WordPress Dashboard.

I really appreciate your continued efforts to support a free plugin. Such above and beyond service. Thank you!

Thanks for the update. In relation to the regional redirect that makes sense, good to know it doesn’t impact Site Kit setup or reporting.

Great to hear that Search Console is now connecting to the correct property. I didn’t come across this unusual notice previously, we’ll keep this in mind should other users encounter the same.

Thank you for your kind words! I’ll certainly pass this onto the whole team, who will be happy to hear of such end user satisfaction. If you have any further queries be sure to reach out, and as it sounds like you’ve been a Site Kit user for some time be sure to share your plugin feedback.
