• I’m trying to upload photos, jpegs and tifs into WordPress without success. When I use the Flash Uploader I get a HTTP error message. When I user the browser I get a “server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. A 404 not found error was encountered.”

    I’ve altered the .htaccess file in the wp-admin directory as someone suggested, but it still doesn’t work.

    Am new to WordPress. Any suggestions very welcome

    Thanks for your help.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Esmi, thanks for getting back to me.

    I used PhPMyAdmin and the setting was already a:0:{}

    I switched to Twenty ten and it still didn’t work, although now the Flash uploader isn’t working, only the Browser Uploader but I still get the server error message and can’t upload anything.

    I might try downloading WordPress from scratch and see if that fixes it. Otherwise I’m out of ideas.

    Any help greatly appreciated.
