• After uploading an image / media many users are getting an HTTP Error.

After trawling through the forums I have come across many solutions that involve various file editing, adding lines in php and so on.

I would recommend that before trying all these solutions that users try the following extremely simple solution.

In your WordPress dashboard, go to SETTINGS > MEDIA> and then change the values for “Large Size” to anything above your maximum file size dimensions,

For example if the image you are trying to upload is 3700×3200 your settings need to be at least 3800 x 3300.

  • Sometimes the file size of the image might be so big that the servers configuration for php uploads might be maxing out and causing the error. In these cases you have no choice but to edit the files that are discussed in those other threads, such as htaccess or php.ini.

Thank you. Changing the values for ‘Large Size’ in Settings > Media did the trick for me.
