• Hi guys, hope you’re all well…

I noticed last week i kept getting this error. I have just recently set up an account with adsense and they declined my application because they could not get on my website.

I’ve researched this error a little, and it seems that when most people get this error, they cant get on their site at all, I only get the error sometimes and a refresh or two gets the page back up.

I read that it may be a plugin, but if it was, why would my site work sometimes and sometimes not?

This morning my first visit to the site gave me the error, i then refreshed, and then navigated to several pages with no problem….Strange.

    Any help is appreciated thanks.

I was getting my error before the 3.5.1 update…

Try checking your site’s error logs for a more specific error message. Your host should be able to assist you with this.

Thanks, I’ve emailed my host today asking them to look in to the problem in case it’s a problem at their end.

    Hello again,

My host has come back to me, this was the response i have got:

It seems that the error message has something to do with the consumption made by our site on our shared hosting server. The database is not an issue because you still have a lot of free space. Based on the error message, it was going beyond the limitation of CGI process which triggered the error.

Please optimise your scripts and any processes running in your account. You can also refer it to your developer and this will help reduce the chance of getting error message and slow access.

Intermittent and slow access is normally caused by the scripts used to run the site. If you site is running through CMS (Content Management System) like WordPress, it is really important to have it optimised.

This doesnt make much sense to me (i’m still learning)

Can anyone put this in more simple terms for me? Give me some options to help sort out this problem?

    Thanks in advance..

I have disabled most of my plugins, optimised databases and still get the error.

Really considering transferring to a different host now.

If you site is running through CMS (Content Management System) like WordPress, it is really important to have it optimised.

is a typical “excuse” from a bad host. Your site is a little heavy but not out of the ordinary, Look at Recommended WordPress Web Hosting and Moving WordPress ? WordPress Codex

thanks for your reply, i thought that might be the case.

I’m going to look in to transferring it this week.

How beneficial would a CDN be for my website? I dont have loads of content media wise, but would storing my theme files etc make a great difference to loading speed?

using a cdn really helps in terms of site loading speed .It loads like blazing fast . Cloudflare is a free cdn but some people report that using it deranks in google . So first search about it and then proceed . If you have inorganic traffic its best to use CDN .

I get a bit of inorganic traffic via social media but i dont use PPC or anything.

I’ve had a look at Cloudflare, which is an option.

Have you heard much about Rackspace? It’s only 7p/GB and seem to be quite a bit company

yaa its nice . maxcdn is also very good .

Ye ive noticed maxcdn is popular, but i dont really want to pay for a year in case it doesn’t work out for me, probably go with Rackspace

@robertdean09: You’re confusing the difference between a CDN and the original web host. A CDN will not fix the basic, underlying problems with the basic web host such as server errors.

I’m going to change host anyway, i was just thinking of CDN also to speed the loading up a bit
