I am experiencing failures when uploading images and optimizing them per upload and with bulk optimization as well. Http error message appears and mostly the picture is not there (even after refreshing page). Never had this issue with this great plugin before. It just there for the past 2 weeks.
I followed other threads for a possible solution, but could not succeed solving the failures.

There are multiple script timeout errors related to the upload.php script:

    [url][Tue Sep 11 17:48:28.278492 2018] [core:error] [pid 9120] [client 83.86.234.107:41662] Script timed out before returning headers: async-upload.php, referer: https://www.beleef-smaak.nl/wp-admin/upload.php
[Tue Sep 11 17:48:58.308434 2018] [:warn] [pid 9120] [client 83.86.234.107:41662] Timeout waiting for output from CGI script /home/beleefsm/public_html/wp-admin/async-upload.php, referer: https://www.beleef-smaak.nl/wp-admin/upload.php%5B/url%5D

The server “gives up” on waiting for the upload script to finish its tasks.

    How to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • We’re also getting a similar error, seems to have begun today. http error uploading images, timeouts, etc. Also running optimization on existing images in the library that weren’t previously compressed is also timing out.

    Tried re-installing, no luck.

Note – this is apparently an old issue? Fix HTTP error – Smush.it however is there any hope of a long-term fix? It’s a great plugin frankly.

Thank you nadasurf. Tried that and all other suggestions in previous topics on this forum. Unfortunately all with no result. I can upload images when resmus.it is disabled. After enabling I get the http error or it simply stucks on bulk optimization.

    Hi Guys,

We had a big issue this last few days due to a DDOS attack, which is fixed right now. This was the biggest unavailability of our API since the creation (3 days), and we’re currently working on it to avoid this kind of problems in the future.

    Thanks for your patience,
    Cheers,
    Charles

It still does not work (for me/my site). I have dropped reSmush.it and use EWWW instead with succes and good results until now.

I am having an issue with getting an HTTP error when uploading SVGs when this plugin is activated. To me it seems like the plugin should exclude SVGs.
