    Hi guys,

I was getting the HTTP 500 Error when trying to access the ‘customize site’ function of my site using the shopkeeper theme.
I conducted some troubleshooting from the article below and found that it was the stripe plugin that was causing the issue. The theme, wordpress and all plugins are up to date.

Any ideas why this is happening and is this in the process of being addressed?

At the moment my workaround (by necessity) is to disable Stripe while I need to make any changes and enable it again once I’m done. But it’s far from ideal.

    Any help or suggestions welcome.

    Hello,

Why do you feel the issue is caused by Stripe? Do you have solid evidence of this?

Here is what I see on my site with Storefront theme. https://cld.wthms.co/B3KAad

As you can see I am using the customizer with no issues.

    Hi mate,

I disabled all the plugins and it worked fine.
So I re-activated them all one by one and Stripe was the only one causing it to show the error attached.
Maybe it’s something to do with the Shopkeeper theme in conjunction with the plugin?

Have you tried troubleshooting the theme instead? Get a couple of popular WooCommerce themes and test it against Stripe and see if it fails?

I initially logged a ticket with them and they said it wasn’t a theme issue.
As you say though, it would be a good idea to test some other themes and see if it happens or not. I’ll have a look at doing that today.

I have the same issue. Every time I activate the stripe plugin my website drops and I get a error 500 msg.

I’ve tried it numerous times and it’s definitely this plugin. Nick how did you resolve this issue?

@kkardi – what is the version you tried to install of Stripe?

    Version: 4.1.6
    Author: WooCommerce
    Last Updated: 4 days ago

and the version previous to that

@kkardi – do you have WooCommerce installed?

Of course! Version 3.4.1 | By Automattic

@kkardi – please check your PHP error log to see if you find something related to this. The only thing I can think of that would give a 500 error is if you don’t have WC installed and active AND you’re using older version of Stripe OR you’re somehow missing some files from the download/update.

I really don’t want to kill my site and go through the whole process to get back online. Is there a way I can delete and wipe out any history of using WC and stripe?

@kkardi – I would suggest you setup a staging site and test it on that setup so you don’t affect your live site. This is a common practice and especially beneficial for exactly this purpose.

I created a staged site and it doesn’t crash. How can I fix my issue for my main site? Could the woocom service plugins (Version 1.14.1 | By Automattic | ) effect things?
