• Help? I have used WP on my website for at least 1 1/2 years & posted successfully a couple of weeks ago. When I tried to login yesterday via my normal website blog, I got the HTTP error message 404. I have a self-hosted/installed version of WP that was created by my website designer and was acknowledged through WP.com, but when I contacted them for help with the log-in, they said I had to get support now thru WP.org?? While I’ve registered now with WP.org & can sign in, I don’t have access to my former dashboard with all my previous posts, etc. Is there any one who can tell me who to contact to retrieve my former info?
    tks

  • Is this a self hosted blog or a wordpress.com site?

I was told by the support team at WP.com that mine is a “self-hosted/installed” version of WordPress. It resides as part of my website that is hosted by Register.com. I would appreciate any insights you can share!

I’d suggest that you start by verifying that all of the WordPress files are still on your server, that your database is intact and that you are using the correct login link.

Thanks! I contacted my website hosting group & have restored all my public html files & I still get a blank page at my wp-login.php page. Any suggestions? I really appreciate your help!

What are you security settings for your files? Always check those to make sure no one hacked in. I hope you find an answer—I’ll be checking back in case any of this happens to me so I could help out the next poor soul! Good luck

    Did you check your database?
