Hello developers, I was looking to add a simple line of text in the form (not input). I found out that you can do that with html (</>). Yes, it does show in the front end form, but it remains invisible in the form builder, only a light grey </> is visible. Entering text in the label also remains invisible in the builder. See the 2 attached images (I am designing locally with MAMP).

The problem is that my layman client needs to change that text with every new form he duplicates, so it is essential that he can see this line in the builder. Is there a fix, or another way to add text?

    Happy New Year!

Within the HTML field of your form, you can use the “Label” setting so that you client can identify the HTML fields that need to be updated. The Label of an HTML field would not display on the front-end of the form, so it can be used for backend purposes:

Hello Curtis, thank you for your reply and a Happy Newyear to you too.

I know what labels are. The problem I described is not on the front end but on the admin end. Neither label nor default value are shown there, only </> and cog wheel. You can only see them when opened. There are no problems on the front end.

    Hi,

Ah, I apologize for misunderstanding your inquiry. At this time, the contents of HTML fields would only display in the form editor only when editing that HTML field. I have created a feature request for the ability for text entered within HTML fields to also display within the form editor without needing to edit the HTML field.

Text entered within the Label of the HTML field should not be invisible, however. Does the issue persist with other add-ons momentarily disabled and when using a default WordPress theme, such as Twenty Twenty?

Yes, the problem persists with all other plugins disabled in theme Twenty Twenty Two.
