HTML Tags not working in Comments

Which theme are you using?

Thank you @cubecolur I am using Buddypress-Default for the theme. Everything has been updated to the latest versions of these plugins and themes as well.

OK we need to investigate whether this behaviour is being introduced by something in the theme or by a plugin.

The way to check whether it is the theme is to temporarily switch to the default twentythirteen or twentytwelve theme & check how the comments display. If it is the same, we can rule out the theme, so you can switch back.

Then, to check whether the issue is caused by a plugin, deactivate all of your plugins. If the comments display any better, activate your plugins one by one and check the site after each. This will tell you whether a plugin is causing it and if so, which one.

Tried switching themes to see if it was a theme problem and it did not fix itself after switching and resaving.

For those using buddypress-default, if you switch activate another theme-you will loose the buddypress-default theme. Not permanently though thank heavens. You will need to add the following filter in your bp-custom file:
add_filter( 'bp_do_register_theme_directory', '__return_true' ); and you will be able to reactivate the buddypress theme again.

Is there a setting that I am forgetting to set or anything that I can do to fix this issue? I wish I was understood better php but I don’t Hope someone could help me figure this out.

Do you have this problem on a default theme with ALL plugins deactivated? That’s the way to start trying to identify what’s causing it.

Actually YES, as illustrated above I removed all and then had to use the default theme because buddypress was deactivated along with the other plugins.

What is Buffercode Comment Signature? Is that another plugin? Does it filter the comments content in any way?

Can you deactivate all of the plugins – except buddyPress if it makes things any easier and check the comments again to see whether the HTML code is output.

Also make a new comment with the plugins deactivated to investigate whether that is also affected

Didn’t realize you were asking me to do this again. And when I did test it out you are right I did not go to twentytwelve I went to the newest one. Since I did this already I just simply answered your post. Why twentytwelve an not twentyfourteen-which is the one I tested after removing buddypress and all the other plugins

Ho @cubecolour it is a simple signature plugin and one of the first I deactivated to test when I was just trying to choose the plugins I recently added while testing. Still did not fix the problem. Plus, on my other site I don’t have it installed and it is acting with the same behavior.

Did you post a new comment on your site with everything deactivated?

We don’t know yet whether the html tags are being converted to character entities when the comment is posted or when it is displayed. Once we know that we can think about the next troubleshooting step to isolate the cause of the issue.

Are you really using 111 plugins? Due to this your site seems to be loading 87 stylesheets which must be some kind of a record. Having a lot of plugins isn’t necessarily a problem in itself, but it can make troubleshooting a bit more of a hassle.

Well now it is 110 and yes. Worked flawlessly until this error I found. The culprit was DW Question Answer. Everything is back normal and working again!
