• Hi, I’m new to WP but not web design or PHP.

Instead of reinventing the wheel, I decided to check out WP, and (so far) I’m very impressed with the resources available!

I have a home server setup with PHP 4.3.10, MySql 4.0.16, on a Windows XP machine… with a fresh download of WP.

I just installed WP and made post #1 in the admin section. When I go to view my new WP page display, I get the HTML source code instead of the page display.

I’ve made no customizations to the files (yet), and the setup seemed to go without error.

Has anyone heard of this before?
This is a screenshot of the output:

Also, when I go to look this up on the “Docs” page to resolve this issue myself, I get a 500 Server Error here at www.remarpro.com
This is a screenshot of the errorpage:

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and ease my transition as a new WP user.

  • Looks to be server-related, considering the HTTP headers showing up at the top of your browser screenshot (those don’t appear in a browser when a web server runs correctly!). I’d start looking around for a MicroWeb support forum.

And yes, the Codex has had its problems of late. No need for a screenshot of that…

    Thanks Kafkaesqui,

Microweb is a little web-on-CD utility, no support there. I just use it for quick desktop development (it has all of the components for most things I do).

Maybe I’ll upload to one of my bluehost accounts, but it’s going to be a pain doing edits and adjustments via ftp (like in the good-ol-days).

Sorry about the screenshot of the 500 error–over the top. I thought someone should know. I haven’t spent any time on these forums except for tonight.

I’ll look into trying a different server.

    Peace
