HTML lazy loading

For HTML lazy loading, should the selectors in the list have the hashtag in front or not? E.g. #comments or comments.

Is it enough to enter the “outer selector” of a larger chunk you want lazy loaded, e.g. #comments, or is it necessary to include the “inner selectors” of that chunk too?
