I have an old static HTML site with over 200 pages that I want to migrate over to WP. To give this a test run I installed a new WP instance, installed this plugin, and added a test HTML file to the “wp-content/uploads/html_files/unprocessed” folder. At least as I understood, within 5 minutes the plugin would check that directory for new files and create posts from them, then move them to the “processed” folder.

I did that, and the file was moved from “unprocessed” to “processed” as expected, but I still don’t see any new posts (or pages). Am I missing something?

NOTE (if helpful): I did this on a clean, unused install of WP on a fairly standard vanilla shared Linux/LAMP hosting environment.

yes you are missing the part that explains it creates a custom post type not posts or pages.

    it is in the FAQ

i guess it could be a a future enhancement to create posts or pages

Can I use this plugin to load HTML files into pages?

Not at the moment, it loads into a Custom Post Type called “html_file”. BUt if that is something you need, ask on the support forum and we will consider developing it.

Thanks for clarifying so quickly. I’m not very fluent in WP. I do see it now in the posts table, and in the “All HTML Files” list. I will see if I can find a way to make that work.

P.S. Regarding your quoted segment from FAQ, mark me down as a vote for the import html to pages/posts feature ?? There was a plugin that comes up often in web searches on this topic, “HTML Import 2”. It was highly recommended and has great features, but hasn’t been updated in 6 years and crashes repeatedly. Looking at dates of reviews for that plugin, it looks like there are no reviews since WP v6 released. Anyway, I just point this out as evidence that there may be some demand for it.
