• Hi all,

I am encountering the HTML error when I try to upload an image. I have done a lot of searching for solutions and have tried different ones with no luck. I thought I would raise a new topic to document what I have found and to hopefully get some suggestions.

I have performed a fresh install of a wordpress site using version 4.4. The site sits inside another website as I am using it to help with a training course I am developing. The site can be found at https://seleniumtraining.com.au/training

I have not applied any add-ins or themes at this stage. The only settings I have changed for the site are:
General settings such as timezone, date format etc
Reading settings – discourage browsers from indexing
Discussion – Turned off Allow people to post comments
Media – unticked “Crop Thumbnails” and unticked “Organise my uploads into month and year-based folders”
    Permalinks – Selected Post name

I opened the Media Library and clicked on Add New. I selected an image with the following dimensions/properties:
    .jpg file
    File size – 198kb
Image dimensions – 628 pixels Wide, 472 pixels High
    File name – One.JPG

When I attempt to upload the image I get the html error. When I refresh the library it shows that a blank square with the label ‘One.jpg’. When I view the Attachment details it has a url of ‘https://seleniumtraining.com.au/training/wp-content/uploads/One.jpg’ and a Title of ‘One’

What is interesting is, when I look in the /training/wp-content/uploads/ folder via FTP, I can see the ‘One.jpg’ file is there, but there is no Small or Medium version of the file.

I created another version of the file but changed the dimensions down to 133pixels wide by 100 wide. When I try to upload this immage it uploads without any error.

The ‘Uploads’ folder has permission 0777

I am of the opinion that this issue relates to the cropping functionality. Has anyone got any suggestions about how I can resolve this or work around the issue?

    Thanks

    Simon
