HTML Email formatting issues since recent update

    Hi, since one of the recent CF7 updates the formatting of the HTML email content for forms on a site I run are being messed up with the email content looking as it might if the HTML was missing closing tags on some of the markup.

    I have checked the HTML email formatting using an HTML validator and there are no broken / missing tags, additionally these same forms have been working fine for a couple of years so there hasn’t been any code update to the site.

    I actually send two emails out from the forms, one (which is sent to the site admin) has the issue outlined above but the second (which is sent to the person completing the form) is a different format / layout of email and these seem to be unaffected. So somehow it’s the HTML formatting used in the first email which CF7 is now having a problem with.

    Has anyone else had any email formatting issues occur since the recent update?

  • Yes, I have just been testing the latest update and encountered the same issue. Good to know that I’m not the only one.

    @f1alan Ah ok, good to know I’m not the only one as well. I had been trying to figure out what part of the HTML it might be tripping up on but I’ve tried removing elements but it still breaks.

    Yep, you are not alone on this. I noticed the same kind of problem, where the confirmation email going back to the users has had the formatting pretty seriously corrupted. It looks like it goes beyond missing closing tags in my case too. I have some tables in the email HTML that are ending up laid out so differently that I struggle to even see how the code is being mapped. The basic content is all there, but the table structure is totally different.

    This was all working normally until recently, so it would seem there’s been a bug introduced.

    The recent 5.7.3 update seems to have fixed this issue for me now.
