• Hi there,

I just recently started using WordPress for a new Blog. I’m using the Hemingway theme also. I found that when I try to insert HTML into either a Post or a Page (through “New” or “Edit”), it doesn’t seem to let me do it.
To be more specific, I tried to add Amazon Ads by inserting HTML. If I paste it directly into the post window (WYSIWYG), it just disappears. If I open the HTML editor, first of all there’s nothing there (even if there’s text on the page) and if I paste the Amazon HTML, it also doesn’t work.

Any idea what the problem may be? And how I can fix this?

    Thanks much.

  • To see if it’s a problem with the editor or something else, try turning off the WYSIWYG editor — there’s a check box under “users” ‘your profile.’

Unfortunately, whichever way this test goes, I don’t know what else to tell you. Hopefully someone else will jump in.

Thanks. That seems to work. If anyone can help me figure out why it doesn’t work with WYSIWYG, please let me know.

It seems that the Rich editor just allows for a few elementary things. Other things are filtered out when you save the post. This is probably to make posting safe for the not so coding savvy.
If you don’t know a lot about markup and JavaScript, it’s very easy to mess up your posts. And worse than that, the content is saved in a database and very few bloggers know how to make rescue operations in MySQL.
