  • Shooting from the hip I would guess it is a problem with one of your plugins which is modifying each post for SEO purposes. My advice would be to disable plugins one by one until the problem disappears, then you have your culprit. I typically like to disable, check, then re-enable before moving on to the next one.

    There seems to be a space between the opening bracket and !DOCTYPE. I would recommend removing the space so it looks like this:

    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN” “https://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd”>

    I tested this on my site and the code was not visible in the post when the space was removed.

    I had already tried turning off most of my plugins but your suggestion made me have a second look and found the little bugger causing the problems. It has now been turned off and deleted. so PROBLEM SOLVED.
