HTML and & in items

I’m working on building out a page and found that if I include any HTML or & characters in the H-level tag, it shows in the Guidepost menu. While that is helpful for noting H-level tags, it would be nice have it just strip the tags.

For the ampersand, that would be helpful to actually render out.
