HTML a href Attribute in images within a gallery

Hi guys,
I’m having a problem trying to add “href links code” in images within a gallery, normally, I should insert a code like that (< a href=”h t t p s:/ / source (.c om)/source-link” > Source < / a >) in the image captions but everytime I include the html, the html disappeared, any idea why this is happening ?
I’m using WordPress with a custom theme provided by a company, I’ve contacted them and they showed me the “a href” method, it worked for them but not for me. I’ve contacted my web hosting provider (Greengeeks) and they didn’t find any problem related to my website.
I’ve disabled all my plugins and theme and the problem is still there. So if you are aware of this problem please help me with it.
