.htaccess works for seconds, then disappears

  • I wrote a lengthy .htaccess file full of 301 redirects for now-orphaned pages. When I upload the file via ftp it appears in my file list, and works, for a few seconds! Then it disappears from my ftp window and stops working.

    I assume there’s an easy fix for this, but I haven’t found one searching through the archives.

    I think I just found the answer in another post—I moved the above the “<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>” section (they were inside) and they seem to work now.
