• Hi!

I have detected after latest update that when BWPS modifies the .htaccess file to include a host IP in the blacklist (automatically, due to too many login attemps), it removes the rest of the content of .htaccess

Causing the WordPress permalinks configuration being removed and making all permalinks fails. And that is a serious problem because it broke access to all site except home.

I hope this can be fixed soon.

    Best regards.

  • I got the exact same problem over the weekend; today is TUES. and I’m still recovering, have to manually relink every page to my home because I don’t know how to do a restore with the .sql file. I’m hosted by GoDaddy, so I can go into the website’s directory. However, I don’t see anywhere to do a restore, either in the plugin on the WP dashboard, or inside of the FTP/Files section of GoDaddy. I would like to fix this while I have the time this morning; thanks in advance for any assistance. My site is: https://newdispweb.com.

BTW – This is for WP version 3.6. Today is 08/13/13.

If you have the same problem than me, it’s not related to the database in any way.

You can recreate WordPress htaccess rules by simply going to Settings -> Permalinks and hit the save button. That will add to .htaccess file the WordPress standard rules for your permalink structure.

I just had that problem yesterday. Still recovering. I went to Permalinks and clicked default. Totally works. Then toggled back to the custom permalink I’d originally chosen. Only the home page worked again.

It only worked after I deleted the htaccess file at the root, but now whenever I make any change to the configuration, the temp htaccess files (they scatter a bunch everywhere with this plugin) reactivates something bad and I lose access to EVERY page of my site. It wasn’t this buggy before, I don’t know what’s up.

I’ve had this same problem on one site running WordPress Multisite. For whatever reason, BWPS is deleting other parts of the .htaccess file that it shouldn’t. I had to delete the .htaccess file and recreate it, as well.
