• I’ve had bad experiences with this plugin relating to .htaccess management. It seems like any changes to .htaccess from within the settings of this plugin erases anything else that is present in the htaccess file.

This means any references to the WordPress permalink settings, caching, previous customizations, etc. are all removed any time settings on this plugin are changed.

I can imagine it’s tough to determine how all these rules will work together, but it would make sense to add in your rules to the top of the .htaccess file, preserving what’s already there.

  • Hmm, for what it’s worth, I don’t experience this issue. When I enable User Agent banning inside BWP it seems to add to the top of .htaccess and it pushes my old stuff down. In other words, nothing is over-written.
