    version 2.7.1

I have changed my htaccess file by adding a “#” in front of Options +FollowSymLinks as my webhotel doesnt support this fucntion:

    # Options +FollowSymLinks

everything else is the same in the htaccess file….

However, when I update the content of the blog, WP recreates the standard htaccess file, and my site crashes.

I tried changing the rights of the htaccess file to “0444” but this didn’t help.

    IDeas?

    Thank you all!

  • anything that’s in between the start wordpress and end wordpress lines will be overwritten.

anything you add to the .htaccess should be outside of that area.

    But ..

with the # you have commented out that line, so whats the problem with wordpress deleting it? How does your .htaccess read ?
