.htaccess (Permalinks Change Format)

    I want to change my permalink structure to so called “pretty permalinks”. After I do that in the permalink options, it says to update my .htaccess file….I have been using wordpress for a little over 2 months, and have never even touched this file…I know where it is, but there is nothing really in it.

    What exactly do I need to put in this file so that the permalinks will work?

    If it asks you to update the htaccess file it should give you the code at the bottom of the page.. does it not?
